Description

“There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”

These beautiful song lyrics in porcelain make great gifts for music lovers, and wonderful uplifting gift ideas.

Trained as a poet and ordained as a Buddhist monk, Leonard Cohen (1934–2016) is our patron saint of sorrow and redemption. He wrote songs partway between philosophy and prayer. One of his most beloved lyric lines is from the song “Anthem” — a song that took Cohen a decade to write. It remains what is perhaps the most meaningful message for troubled and troubling times.

It springs from a central concern of Cohen’s life and work, one which he revisited in various guises across various songs.
In dark times, poetry and music often become more important to us, providing the kind of transcendence we need to interpret painful events in a wider context. And Cohen wrote “Anthem,” one of his most beautiful and hopeful songs, in a tumultuous global period.

Materials – Porcelain Clay
Process – Orla O rolls raw porcelain to create the tile and hand-imprints each letter into the clay, which is first fired to bisque. She then applies underglaze and fires the piece to 1230 degrees Celsius, making it solid to withstand all elements.
The art tile is then mounted onto a white wooden frame (20x25cm approx).

Choose any inscription you would like written under the tile. Otherwise, this will be left blank.

*Orla O custom makes each piece, and so the image is a representation of the finished piece.
