Cloths of Heaven
Excerpt from WB Yeats’ poem ‘Cloths of heaven’
Immortalised forever in Porcelain.
Reads “but I being poor have only my dreams; I have spread my dreams under your feet; tread softly because you tread on my dreams”.
One of Yeats most popular poems. Perhaps its brevity and simplicity is one reason why this Yeats poem is so loved. A beautiful poem where the message is straightforward, and a perennial one in poetry (and, indeed, song lyrics). The speaker, addressing his lover or would-be lover, says: if I were a rich man, I’d give you the world and all its treasures.
Materials
Porcelain Clay
Process
Orla O rolls raw porcelain to create the tile. She then hand imprints each letter into the clay, which is first fired to bisque. She applies underglaze and then firest the piece to 1290 degrees celsius, making it solid to withstand all elements. The art tile is then mounted onto a white wooden frame, with any inscription you would like written under the tile (or left blank).
*Orla O Visual Arts custom makes each piece, so the image is a representation of the finished piece.
Made in Ireland.
