“between my finger and my thumb the squat pen rests. I’ll dig with it”
Words in Porcelain.
‘Digging’ is a very personal, poignant and poetic declaration by Seamus Heaney – the son of the farmer who is no longer tied to the land and the spade, but will instead use the pen to dig his way into life, writing poetry.
This poem effectively launched Seamus Heaney into the Poetry world and as he noted, ”Digging’,in fact, was the name of the first poem I wrote where I thought my feelings had got into words..’
Framed in 10x15cm white box frame. Please let me know if you would like any small inscription written under the tile, within the frame.
This will take up to two weeks to ship.
Orla O rolls raw porcelain to create the tile. She then hand imprints each letter into the clay, which is first fired to bisque. She applies underglaze and then fires the piece to 1230 degrees celsius, making it solid to withstand all elements. The art tile is then mounted onto a white wooden frame (10cm x 15cm approx), with any inscription you would like written under the tile (or left blank).
*Orla O Visual Arts custom makes each piece, so the image is a representation of the finished piece.
Made in Ireland.
