Description

Meath was a kingdom for the first twelve centuries CE and is home to many high crosses, neolithic monuments and world renowned passage tombs. In fact it boasts not just one but three UNESCO world heritage sites. Its name derives from its location in the centre of the country; Mide, meaning middle. Still to this day it’s called the Royal County, a nod to the times when the High Kings of Ireland came to the Hill of Tara to be crowned in elaborate ceremonies. It’s thought that Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival we now call Halloween, originated here. Ireland’s largest Anglo-Norman castle is here. And, if that’s not impressive enough, the ancient Irish Olympic type games took place here for 3000 years where young warriors threw themselves into all manner of physical competitions. All in all it’s one pretty cool place

This I Love Meath word art print designed by Susan Brambell is A3 in size and is sold rolled in a tube for ease of worldwide posting. It fits into an IKEA frame or similar.

Original Irish word art by Susan Brambell, The Word Bird, Greystones, Co Wicklow. Ireland.
