The detailed grain patterns famous in this wood running from end to end are even better in person, and the tactile feel from a wooden pen is hard to put into words.
The finial and band on the cap between the rhodium rings have been made out of bog oak instead of using metal as standard. This fine detail craftsmanship makes this pen stand out.

***Irish Bog Oak***

During hundreds and thousands of years, because of minerals and iron from the water. The rotting of oak timber is slower. A special role is played by the underground waters in the creation and darkening the wood.
Over thousands of years, the wood turns from golden brown to black, so this makes it very hard and means it needs to be worked with sharp tools.
Due to all of this no two trunks can be found of the same colour.

About Cuando Creator

I always had the idea of working with wood when I was growing up, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I started with some driftwood from my local shore in Moville. This lead to woodturning and has grown into more than a hobby. I love crafting everything from pens and pencils to shaving sets, cufflinks, earrings and many more products. I work with native as well as exotic woods from around the world, but my favourite and the one I work with most is Irish Bog Oak.
